Store-bought apple pies are great if you are hosting a dinner with family and friends on short notice or simply want to get a dessert without going through much of a hassle. But as it turns out, they have much more potential than we think and can be turned into an amazing new dessert in just a few steps.
Content creator Maggie Perkins recently posted a video on Instagram in which she shared the secret behind an apple pie bake dessert that her family and friends enjoy. As it turns out, Perkins simply buys an apple pie from Costco, mashes it up, and then bakes it again with crumble streusel topping.
“Secrets out. If you’ve ever enjoyed my Twice Baked Apple pie, it’s a scam,” Perkins shares in the caption of the video. “My signature dish is actually just a Costco apple pie, smashed up and baked again with a crumble streusel topping.”
While transforming a perfectly acceptable dessert into another one might seem like a waste of time, we definitely believe Perkins is onto something. Being able to enjoy something you like in a different way is always a good thing and crumble streusel topping sounds like a great addition to apple pie.
On top of that, this sounds like a great way to repurpose a leftover apple pie and make it taste fresh.
