Preparing tasty cocktails is not as intimidating as it sounds, and you can do this by using just a few basic tools and ingredients. Check out some of the most popular but basic cocktails that everyone should know how to prepare at home.

Martini

The iconic cocktail that has stood the test of time, the martini is still one of the most beloved beverages that you can make simply by mixing gin or vodka with dry vermouth. This is a classic recipe but there are also many variations you can try to jazz up a classic martini.

Manhattan

Mix two parts whiskey, one part sweet vermouth, and bitters to make the world-famous Manhattan cocktail. This drink is traditionally garnished with an orange peel and a cherry but you can be creative and garnish how you like.

Gin & Tonic

Mixing this cocktail is super easy and all the ingredients you need are already listed in the name. Mix gin a tonic, add plenty of ice, and garnish with lime or lemon wedge, or basil leaves.

Margarita

The margarita is one of the most popular cocktails that’s easy to prepare at home using only tequila, lime juice, and ice.

Professional chefs have many secrets and tricks that help them make perfect dishes we can hardly recreate at home. This isn’t only true for complicated meals, but also for some seemingly simple ones such as scrambled eggs. Scrambled eggs are a staple breakfast meal that’s incredibly easy and quick to make, but you can elevate them to a completely new level if you just add this secret ingredient you never thought about.

A New Idea

In order to make fluffier eggs, many people use a little bit of milk. While this is fine, there’s something better. Next time you’re making scrambled eggs, try adding a dollop of sour cream per every two eggs and watch them turn into the creamiest, most delicious breakfast you’ve ever had.

Such a small amount of sour cream won’t change the flavor or color of your eggs, but it will add richness and make them fluffy, and you definitely want that. Full-fat sour cream is best, but you can also use non-fat sour cream and get a similar effect without adding too many calories. Just whip the two ingredients together before pouring them in the pan and watch the breakfast magic happen! You’ll never make eggs without sour cream again.

They will give you the needed motivation to go and make your kitchen spotless right now!

Cleaning the Plughole

Cleaning the plughole has never been easier! All you need is some white vinegar, bicarbonate of soda, and boiling water. Make sure your sink is damp and pour 40 grams of soda down the drain. Leave for half an hour, then follow with 100ml of vinegar. Pour a full kettle of boiling water down the sink to wash it off.

Cleaning the Microwave

Cleaning the microwave can be daunting, but it gets much easier if you start by microwaving a bowl of water with 50ml white vinegar and some sliced lemon. Do a five-minute program and leave the door closed for five more minutes, then get cleaning.

Cleaning Baking Dishes

Baking dishes can get so dirty that you never want to clean them, but there’s a way you can make the task a lot easier. Make a paste using white vinegar, dish soap, and bicarbonate of soda. Scrub the dish with the paste (wear gloves!) and cover with a kitchen roll. Leave it for an hour then wipe everything with a kitchen roll and wash as usual.

We’re pretty impressed when we see someone creating unusual food art, and Daniele Barresi is one great example. Barresi turns regular produce into sculptures that look too beautiful to eat, and luckily they are all captured on camera. And we’re particularly fascinated by his avocado carving skills.

The Italian artist uses food for creative expression. He carves many foods including fruits, vegetables, and cheeses.
“When I touch my knife, my mind gives up to the heart and transmits directly to the hands, giving different forms to the decorations. It’s like magic,” Barresi writes on Bored Panda.

He spent most of his life in an Italian small town where he was free to explore the nature surrounding it. This fueled his imagination and inspired him to create art from natural materials, such as food. Over time, he practiced his skills and transformed into a professional carver. His dream is to one day have his own TV show, demonstrating the art of carving to a large audience.

If you are preparing a fruit snack for later, and you love sliced apples, then you probably had that situation where your favorite fruit doesn’t look the same as at the moment when you prepared it. We all had that unpleasant situation where we prepared perfect little slices of apple to eat later, and in the meantime, they go brown. Luckily, there are some techniques that you can use to keep your apple fresh for hours after you sliced it.

First, you need to know why it happens. The main culprit for slices going brown is oxidation. So, we need a way to keep slices away from the air. One of the ways to do this is to use an apple slicer to create wedges and put pieces together after slicing. Or we can just use a simple kitchen knife, clean slices, and put them back into the apple shape, and then tighten with a rubber band or two.

Another great way to achieve the same effect is to squeeze lemon or lime juice over the slices. A mixture of water and honey is also known to give good results. You just need to soak the slices in it for a few minutes and then store them as you like for later. Enjoy trying these recipes!

Going to coffee shops every day can be very expensive, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t enjoy great coffee. Whether you want to save some money or just want to learn how to make amazing coffee at home, these three recipes are a great place to start. Here are the basic coffee drinks to perfect.

Iced Coffee

It’s so easy to make iced coffee at home! Make a fresh batch of coffee and let it cool down. Blend it together with some milk and sugar and pour over ice for a great start to your day or a chill weekend afternoon.

Latte

Perhaps you don’t know how to make latte art, but that’s not necessary for enjoying a great cup of latte at home. Heat some milk in a saucepan and whisk until you get foam, then pour it over freshly made coffee. Decorate with some ground coffee or cinnamon.

Mocha

If you can make a latte, you can make a mocha too. The only difference is that you add chocolate syrup to your cup before the rest of the ingredients. You can also transform an iced coffee into an iced mocha if you add chocolate syrup to the iced coffee cup!

Can anyone honestly say they don’t like garlic bread? It’s warm, buttery, and delicious, truly perfect comfort food. It can be eaten on its own or paired with many different foods and it will make your home smell amazing. For some people, there’s no such thing as too much garlic, so they put it in everything and overpower other flavors. This chef found the perfect balance between using a lot of garlic and not going overboard.

Jake Cohen’s garlic bread uses four whole heads of garlic, which sounds insane, right? In reality, his bread is one of the most delicious things in the world. His trick is that he roasts the garlic in the oven on medium to low heat for an hour before moving on. This way, the garlic loses its sharpness and becomes rich and creamy.

You may not like the idea of needing an hour and a half to make this garlic bread when you’re already hungry, but good things often take time. It’s worth planning in advance and waiting a bit because the result is the most flavorful garlic bread you’ve ever tasted. Other ingredients Cohen uses include butter, salt, fresh basil, and red pepper. Check out the process on his TikTok channel.

It feels like 2021 has just started when it’s already getting closer to an end. We’re slowly starting to see the end of the pandemic and all the ways it has changed our lives and habits. This is also true for food, so expect to see some new trends in 2022. Here are three of them.

TikTok Trends

It’s safe to assume that TikTok will remain a very popular spot for new things happening in the world of food. With more and more users every day and a convenient format, TikTok videos quickly become viral sharing the latest recipes, ingredients, and cooking tips.

Real Omnivores

Real omnivores are people who eat all food groups but keep in mind their health and focus on plant-based when they can. For example, they don’t avoid meat completely, but reduce consumption and are willing to try alternatives.

No ABV

Low or no alcohol by volume (ABV) drinks are becoming more and more common. The trend of drinking in moderation is going to be big in 2022, and the industry is already responding to the demand. Many brands are releasing alcohol-free wine options, so it will be relatively common to get alcohol-free Prosecco, for example.

If you can make a latte, you can make a mocha too. The only difference is that you add chocolate syrup to your cup before the rest of the ingredients. You can also transform an iced coffee into an iced mocha if you add chocolate syrup to the iced coffee cup!

Jessica Leigh Clark-Bojin couldn’t even bake before 2016. But just a few years later, her work was been featured in dozens of publications and she appeared as a judge on Food Network’s Thanksgiving Pie Fight 2019 holiday special. The talented pie uses her favorite pop culture references to inspire her three-dimensional pies, and the final products are jaw-dropping.

Jessica Leigh Clark-Bojin doesn’t just bake pies, she makes works of art that truly come to life with all of the fine detail she puts into each and every one of them.

“I’ve been baking pop culture pie art for the past few years on Instagram under the handle ThePieous,” she writes on Bored Panda. “All of them are based on different properties that are near and dear to my heart… My favorite video games, books, movies, music, TV series— mostly nerdy, but these things put a smile on my face. I hope they put a smile on your face too!”

She can turn anything into pie and she’s not shy about sharing her baking secrets with her followers. For those who want her recipes and techniques in one place, she recently published the book Pies Are Awesome: The Definitive Pie Art Book: Step‑by‑Step. It’s a great resource for learning the pie art if you’re into that and amazing as a gift to someone passionate about baking.
