Garlic is an ingredient that is so often added to dishes to give them flavor and depth. But have you ever considered allowing garlic to be its own star? One of life’s culinary pleasures surely has to be roasted garlic smeared on toasted bread.

Although a simple process, roasting garlic takes the vegetable to new flavor levels. The once hard, sharp, strong-smelling bulb transforms into a sweet, umami, creamy dream that you won’t be able to get enough of.

Ingredients:

• 1 large head of garlic
• Extra-virgin olive oil
• Sea salt
• Freshly ground black pepper

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 F. Slice off the top of the head of garlic. Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Wrap in foil and place in a shallow dish.
  2. Roast for around 40 minutes until golden and soft. Once cool, squeeze out the garlic cloves and use them on everything!
