It’s fall season, and everyone needs a bit of pumpkin spice in their life. Whether you are making a latte, baking a pie, or having oats for breakfast, pumpkin spice is a perfect addition.
Now, you can easily buy pumpkin spice at your local grocery store and call it a day. But, the better option is to make it at home. It is a more affordable route; you can adjust it to your liking, and you will be able to mix it up whenever you need it. Best of all, it is so simple.
How to Make Pumpkin Spice at Home
You will need just five ingredients for pumpkin spice and it doesn’t include pumpkin. The ingredients are ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, ground ginger, ground cloves, and ground allspice.
You can play with the ratios, but the overall formula is to go heavy on the cinnamon and lighter on other ingredients. For the traditional version of pumpkin spice, combine one teaspoon of ground cinnamon with ½ teaspoon of ground ginger, ½ teaspoon of ground nutmeg, 1/8 teaspoon of ground cloves, and 1/8 teaspoon of ground allspice. Mix it all together, and you are done.
How to Store Pumpkin Spice
Once you have made your pumpkin spice, transfer it to a glass jar with a tight lid. Leave it in a dark and cold place, and you can count on it to remain good for a couple of years.
