Old Fashioneds are the quintessential cocktail of the mid-west. It’s also one of the simplest drinks to make and can be modified for many different kinds of alcohol. This non-traditional recipe is an easy way to recreate one of the first cocktails ever mixed.

Whiskey old fashioneds are traditional and loved by many. This recipe, however, uses pineapple rum to put a twist on this old time cocktail.

Jackson Cannon, co-owner and bar manager of The Hawthorne bar in Boston created this recipe to prove that old fashioneds can still be modified and made (dare we say) better and easier to make at home.

Cocktail Ingredients

2 oz of Plantation Stiggin’s Fancy Pineapple Rum
1/4 oz of Demerara syrup
1 bar spoon of Galliano Ristretto Coffee Liqueur
1 Dash of Angostura Bitters
1 Orange slice (optional orange twist garnish)
1 Maraschino cherry (optional garnish)
Rocks glass is preferred for serving.

Combining The Ingredients

In a mixing glass, add all of the ingredients with ice. Stir until all of the ingredients are chilled.

Pour chilled drink into a rocks glass over fresh ice.

Feel free to garnish with an orange twist or maraschino cherry on top.
