Making the perfect batch of scrambled eggs is one of those things that even amateur chefs around the world take pride in. Even those who didn’t go to culinary school can find their way around the skillet when it comes to this dish, and yet there are certain caveats that cannot be overlooked. For instance, there are some who believe that if you don’t put milk in your scrambled eggs, they aren’t legitimate. But is this accurate?

It’s a Matter of Opinion

The first thing we’ll get out of the way is that this topic is certainly a matter of opinion. There are so many different ways to make scrambled eggs, and thus milk is certainly not required for them to taste amazing. However, we’d be remiss if we didn’t explain why milk can truly elevate this dish.

A Creamier Texture

While yes, you don’t HAVE to add milk to your scrambled egg mixture, it certainly adds a nice element to it. A creamy texture is what you’ll get if you include milk and even some extra richness in the taste. However, if you’re lactose intolerant, or you’ll simply just trying to eat less dairy, you can still make a perfectly good batch of eggs without milk!

Professional chefs have many secrets and tricks that help them make perfect dishes we can hardly recreate at home. This isn’t only true for complicated meals, but also for some seemingly simple ones such as scrambled eggs. Scrambled eggs are a staple breakfast meal that’s incredibly easy and quick to make, but you can elevate them to a completely new level if you just add this secret ingredient you never thought about.

A New Idea

In order to make fluffier eggs, many people use a little bit of milk. While this is fine, there’s something better. Next time you’re making scrambled eggs, try adding a dollop of sour cream per every two eggs and watch them turn into the creamiest, most delicious breakfast you’ve ever had.

Such a small amount of sour cream won’t change the flavor or color of your eggs, but it will add richness and make them fluffy, and you definitely want that. Full-fat sour cream is best, but you can also use non-fat sour cream and get a similar effect without adding too many calories. Just whip the two ingredients together before pouring them in the pan and watch the breakfast magic happen! You’ll never make eggs without sour cream again.

Just like pancakes, toast, and cereal, scrambled eggs are one of those dishes that first pop to mind when someone mentions breakfast. They’re one of the easiest breakfast staples to make in just a couple of minutes, but there are steps you can take to improve your recipe and make it healthier.

Oil Choice

Not all oils are created equal, but picking the one that’s generally considered healthy isn’t the only thing you should be looking for. Scrambled eggs are usually prepared at high heat, and that’s why you should opt for extra virgin olive oil, coconut oil, or butter, because they’re stable at high temperatures.

Healthy Add-Ins

It’s impossible to make healthy scrambled eggs by adding a bunch of unhealthy ingredients to the mix. If you’re not sure what extra ingredients to use, veggies will add fiber and vitamins to your dish, and they’re always a good idea.

Proper Portions

Eating in moderation is the best way to keep each meal healthy and nutritious, including scrambled eggs. Many people tend to add them to their toasts, sandwiches, and burgers, but if you find scrambled eggs filling enough on their own, there’s no need to use them as an extra ingredient.

What’s your favorite type of breakfast food? I tend to avoid sweet things and stick with savory items to start my day—such as eggs in all of their various forms.

My favorite way to prepare eggs is to scramble them with other ingredients, and the following recipe for a Western Egg Scramble is a classic option that takes just minutes to prepare. Here’s how to make it!

Ingredients

  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 slices of deli turkey
  • 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 ounce diced onion
  • 1 ounce sliced red and green peppers
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Olive oil

Instructions

Scrambled eggs are one of the most basic dishes everyone should know how to cook. But, to make the best scrambled eggs, there are some tips that should never be avoided.

Here is a list of ways to make your scrambled eggs even easier and most delicious.

Scramble in the Pan

A lot of people first crack their eggs into a bowl, whisk them, and then pour them into a skillet. Save yourself the trouble of another dish and scramble your eggs right in the pan! That also means you won’t lose any of the eggs in the process.

Skip The Milk

If you have good quality eggs, you don’t need milk or cream to have creamy eggs. If you really want to be decadent, add in some butter towards the end of the cooking process.

Non-Stick Skillet

A non-stick skillet is the only right choice when making scrambled eggs. If you use another type of pan, your eggs will stick to the bottom and it’ll be harder to clean and less for you to eat.

Off The Heat

Even if your eggs seem too runny, turn off the heat and let them continue to keep a little at the end with the residual heat from the pan. This means perfectly cooked fluffy eggs.
