What’s your favorite type of breakfast food? I tend to avoid sweet things and stick with savory items to start my day—such as eggs in all of their various forms.

My favorite way to prepare eggs is to scramble them with other ingredients, and the following recipe for a Western Egg Scramble is a classic option that takes just minutes to prepare. Here’s how to make it!

Ingredients

  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 slices of deli turkey
  • 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 ounce diced onion
  • 1 ounce sliced red and green peppers
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Olive oil

Instructions

Start off by heating a tablespoon or so of olive oil on medium heat in a medium skillet. When the oil has heated up, add the three large eggs and scramble them with your spatula.

Next, begin to add shredded pieces of deli turkey and cheddar cheese, your diced onion, and the sliced red and green peppers. Mix in and allow them to cook along with the eggs, adding a touch of salt and black pepper, to taste.

After just a couple of minutes, your eggs should be fluffy and ready to serve and eat. Bon appetit and enjoy your breakfast!

Eggs are the perfect food for breakfast. Packed full of protein, they provide a slow release of energy throughout the day and they can go with almost anything. Not only do they taste great, but they are very easy to prepare in several ways depending on your mood.

Poached

Poached eggs are fantastic on toast or in a salad. They are boiled in water without their shells to make a firm white body with a runny yolk. Add some salt and pepper, and you have yourself a delicious start to the day.

Soft Boiled

Another classic technique for preparing your eggs is to soft boil them. Add the eggs to boiling water for around two minutes, and then serve in their shells. The egg white should have a gooey consistency and the yolk should be runny. Dip in slices of toast and enjoy!

Scrambled

If you prefer your eggs without a runny yolk, try scrambling them. Mix the egg white and yoke together and fry over a gentle heat. Scrambled eggs are best served on toast or with sausages and tomato.

Omelet

If you are looking for something a bit more substantial, a great option is an omelet. Fry whisked egg until its firm, and add your pick of toppings.

Fried

The easiest and quickest way to prepare your eggs is to fry them in olive oil. Just break your eggs directly onto a heated pan and cook them until they go white.

If you haven’t heard about avocado toast lately, you’ve probably been living under a rock! This popular breakfast and brunch dish has exploded onto the scene as a trendy choice for a nutritious and healthy dish.

Unfortunately, as anyone who has ever ordered avocado toast at a restaurant before probably knows, the price that you generally pay for this meal is disproportionately high! So, why not learn how to make it at home? Here’s how!

Ingredients:

  • 2 slices of high-quality bread (preferably whole wheat and/or artesanal, from a local bakery)
  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions:

  1. Start off by heating up a skillet or a toaster. Once this device is ready, add a little bit of olive oil on the outside of your bread and toast it until it is golden-brown and firm. This is the first step to enjoying great avocado toast!
  2. Next, open up the ripe avocado, remove the pit, and take out all of the delicious, creamy flesh with a spoon. Put it into a small bowl, and then add the olive oil, lemon juice, sea salt, and black pepper.
  3. Mash all of the ingredients together with a spoon until it has reached a creamy and smooth consistency.
  4. Take the toast, spread this avocado mix on top of each piece, and there you have it! Your avocado toast is ready to enjoy.

They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so you owe it to yourself to prepare something that is both satisfying and healthy. Overnight oats are a great breakfast option – they are perfect for people on the run, and the best part is you can double, triple, or quadruple this recipe so you can be set for the week! Here’s our go-to overnight oats recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup of rolled oats (do not use quick cook because they will get soggy overnight)
  • 1/2 cup of the milk of your choice
  • 1/4 cup of Greek yogurt or the dairy-free yogurt of your choice
  • 1 tablespoon of chia seeds
  • 1 tablespoon of honey, agave nectar, or another sweetener
  • 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon of jam
  • 1 tablespoon of peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup of diced strawberries or raspberries
  • 2 tablespoons of crushed peanuts

Instructions:

  1. First, get a glass jar or container that will hold all the ingredients, but that will also give you some room to mix.
  2. Then, put in the oats, milk, yogurt, and chia seeds. Mix well and leave in the fridge for at least 2 hours. Then, you can either choose to leave it overnight or add in your toppings right away.
  3. If you do want to do the toppings the night before to make life easier, just add the jam in one area, the peanut butter in another, the fruit all over, and sprinkle the peanuts on as well.
  4. Enjoy!
