Who doesn’t love pizza? It’s one of those meals that’s sure to please even the pickiest eaters. Have you made your own pizza at home? The key to making a delicious pizza starts with the dough and this homemade dough is super simple to make and you only have to wait 30 minutes after the dough is formed to start using it as the base for your pizza. Here’s how to make it.

I love red pepper flakes or roasted peppers. 🍕 ⁣ I’m going to keep this short and sweet – keep scrolling down for the recipe ⁣ 🍕 ⁣ Prep Time: 10 minutes⁣ Proof Time: 2 hours⁣ Total Time: 20 minutes ⁣ Serves: 1 Rectangular Sheet Pan⁣ ⁣ INGREDIENTS⁣ 1 cup warm water (about 110°C)⁣ 1 tablespoon honey⁣ 1 tablespoon oil⁣ 1 tablespoon dry instant yeast⁣ 1 teaspoon sea salt⁣ 2 cups all purpose flour⁣ ⁣ INSTRUCTIONS⁣ * In a large bowl or the bowl of an electric stand mixer fitted with the dough hook, add the warm water, honey, oil, salt, and sprinkle the yeast overtop. Let it sit for 5 minutes and allow it to bloom. There should be a foamy later on the top of the liquid mixture in the bowl. ⁣ * If using a stand mixer turn it on low and slowly add the flour until a soft dough forms and begins to pull away from the sides of the bowl. NOTE: Use your fingers to touch the dough. The dough should feel soft, smooth and not sticky.⁣ * Continue to knead the dough for 2-3 minutes longer. NOTE: If kneading by hand or if using whole wheat flour, continue to kneed 5-6 minutes longer. ⁣ * Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let sit until doubled in size, 1-2 hours. ⁣ * Remove the plastic wrap and punch the dough down and place the it onto the center of your prepared sheet pan. With your fingers, begin to press the dough to the sides of the pan. If your dough resists and won’t cooperate, let it rest for a bit. Your dough should eventually cover the entire pan. Ingredients:

  • 2/3 cup warm water (110 F)
  • 1/4 ounce active yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons)
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 3/4 cup unbleached flour, plus more for dusting
  • 1 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil, plus more for brushing

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl combine water, yeast, and sugar and let it stand until foamy for about 5 minutes.
  2. Add flour, salt, and oil and stir until dough forms. Transfer to a lightly floured surface.
  3. Knead the dough until it’s smooth, elastic, and tacky but not sticky, for about 5 minutes with floured hands. Transfer to a bowl brushed with oil, making sure to turn the dough so it coats evenly.
  4. Cover with plastic wrap and let it stand in a warm, draft-free place until it’s double the size, for about 30 to 45 minutes.
