Simply Divine Simple Syrups

A simple syrup is really just a combination of equal parts sugar and water boiled until the sugar has dissolved. Simple syrups are perfect to use in cold drinks where water won’t dissolve on its own, and the best part is that once it’s made, you can keep it in the fridge for up to 4 weeks! Here are some fun flavor combinations for you to try and drinks to use it in.

Sage

Sage is such a beautiful flavor to add to cocktails, especially with fruits like blackberry and blueberry. As soon as the sugar has dissolved into the water, put some fresh sage leaves into the pot and steep for at least 20 minutes, longer if you want it stronger or more leaves for less time for the same desired effect.

Mint

Mint lemonade is one of the most refreshing drinks to have, especially for summertime. Steep some mint leaves in the syrup but only for about 15 minutes or the flavor will be off and the shelf life will be shortened.

Basil

Peach iced tea is wonderfully sweet, but using basil as a neutralizer makes it even better. Since basil is such a delicate herb, don’t be afraid to use a lot of it in the syrup!
