Butter cookies are simple to make yet they are delicious every time. If you want to make your own batch to enjoy fresh with a cup of tea or coffee, here’s how to do it.
Ingredients:
- 6 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 teaspoon chopped fennel seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup powdered sugar
- 2 egg yolks
- 2 tablespoons heavy cream
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
Instructions:
- Prepare two baking sheets and line them with parchment paper. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Lightly brown butter in a saucepan over low heat. 4-5 minutes should be enough.
- Remove the pan from heat and add fennel seeds, vanilla extract, and salt. Swirl the pan gently to mix the ingredients.
- Add sugar and whisk to blend. Let it cool for several minutes before adding egg yolks. Whisk again. Fold in the flour until there are no more dry spots.
- Transfer the batter into a piping bag and attach a medium star tip, then make circles on the baking sheets.
- Bake the cookies for 10-12 minutes, until their edges turn golden.
- Cool before serving.
