Make The Perfect Soft Boiled Egg Every Time!

Learning how to make eggs is one of the most fundamental parts of cooking. That’s because eggs are a really versatile ingredient, and go way beyond just something you have for breakfast.

Take soft boiled eggs, for example. These are eggs that are fully cooked on the outside, like a hard boiled egg, but on the inside, the yolk is still lovely and runny like you would see on a fried egg. Making it doesn’t take much work, and it is such a great skill to have.

  1. Start off by boiling a pot of water. It doesn’t have to be a roaring boil, just a small one.
  2. Use a slotted spoon to place the eggs into the water. If you don’t use the spoon your eggs might crack against the pot.
  3. Then, put the lid of the pot on and set your timer for exactly 5 minutes. If you cook the egg for too long, your yolk will not be runny, which defeats the whole purpose.
  4. While the eggs are cooking, put some ice cubes in a bowl with water.
  5. When the timer goes off, use the spoon to scoop out the eggs and place them immediately into the water.
  6. Peel them and they’re ready to be eaten for breakfast, put into a bowl of ramen, or anything you can dream of!
