The great thing about food is that it lets you travel without ever having to leave home. Fancy a holiday to a Caribbean island or trekking through Southeast Asia? We can’t help you out with a plane ticket, but a can of coconut milk is the next best thing.

Tom Kai Kha

Thai cuisine is full of rich aromatics like ginger and chili. As flavourful as they are, they can also be a bit on the spicy side. Tom yum is a classic Thai soup that is both hot and sour, featuring coriander, lemongrass, chili, and galangal. Tom Kai Kha is its cousin, with this soup having a similar flavor profile that has been mellowed out by the slightly sweet coconut milk.

Coconut Shrimp

No Caribbean feast is complete without a plate of coconut shrimp. Coconut milk and flaked coconut are both used in this dish, with the shellfish prepared on a skewer or served over rice.

Coconut Rice Pudding

Rice is also a staple ingredient in these parts of the world and can be used for both savory and sweet. Combine cooked rice with coconut milk or cream, vanilla, and other aromatics to form a creamy rice pudding. It is the perfect way to end a meal.
