One region of the world that is criminally underrated in beer circles is without a doubt South America. Despite its suds not having the fame of other continents such as Europe and North America, there are plenty of beers from this corner of the world which are worth trying.

Are you looking for some to try to familiarize your taste buds with South American beer? Here are three that you should add to your shopping list.

Anyone who has ever been to Argentina before has probably had a Quilmes before, as it is considered the national beer of this South American giant. Smooth, slightly sweet, and highly drinkable on a hot day, Quilmes is simplicity its best.

Cusqueña

Cusqueña is the national beer of Peru and a classic golden lager that is made with grains and hops that are grown in this South American country. Said to be one of the best beers of this style in the entire world, you owe it to yourself to try one of these beers if you can find them.

Pilsener

This beer with a deceptively simple name is beloved throughout the country of Ecuador. Started by German immigrants in the late 19th century, this light and crisp beer is made in the company’s Guayaquil brewery to this day.
