Tomatoes are one of the juiciest veggies on the market, and their burst of flavor is impossible to resist, but they can’t stay fresh for too long. If you’re looking for a way to extend their shelf life, our useful tips and tricks will get you there.

Room Temperature Storage

If your tomatoes aren’t fully ripe yet, it’s best to store them at room temperature, but out of direct sunlight so they wouldn’t go bad too quickly.

Fridge Storage

Refrigerating unripe tomatoes is best avoided and it can negatively impact their texture and flavor. Only put them in a fridge once they’re fully ripe, and allow them to come to room temperature before serving them.

Stem-Side Down

No matter how weird it sounds, it’s highly recommended to place tomatoes stem-side down on a flat surface so they wouldn’t lose moisture too quickly.

Using the Tape

If you’re in the mood to try another fun hack, you can always place a biodegradable tape over the stem to lock out moisture.

Long-Term Storage

Just like most other veggies, a freezer is the best option for long-term storage. If you decide to go down this road, don’t expect them to taste as fresh as new, but they’ll still be a great fit for soups, stews, and sauces.
