  • 14 ounces tofu
  • 5 grams dried seaweed

Instructions:

  1. Place a pot over a high heat. Pour water into the pot and then whisk in the miso paste and soy sauce. Chop up the spinach and the tofu as you wait for the water to boil.
  2. Once the pot of water is boiling, reduce the heat and add noodles, cooking for 3 minutes. Add the tofu and spinach and continue to cook for around another 30 seconds. Top with seaweed and scallions before serving.

  • 4 ounces stilton
  • 8 ounces broccoli
  • 4 ounces cheddar

Instructions:

  1. Chop your leek into small cylinders and fry in your oil until soft.

With the weather turning cooler, it means that soup season is on its way. While nothing beats a pot of freshly-prepared soup, sometimes you just don’t have the energy, you know? There is no shame in grabbing a can of tinned soup — as long as you can get it open. If your can opener has gone AWOL, try out these tricks. 

Hot Water

Yes, we know, you heat the soup up after you’ve poured it out of the can. But heating up the tin itself can help pry it open. Place the closed can in a pot of boiling for a few minutes. The metal will expand slightly from the heat, and you can then use a sharp utensil to push out the lid.

A Spoon

One of the more traditional methods is that of a spoon. Place the handle of the spoon on the edge of the lid and move back and forth to create a groove. Do this enough to weaken the tin, then apply pressure to pry it open.

A Stone

This one definitely needs a bit of patience. Find a rough, flat surface like a stone or concrete. Hold the can firmly and rub the lid’s edge against the abrasive surface until it wears down enough to create a small hole.

  • 4 ounces cheddar
  • 4 cups of vegetable stock
  • 1 leek
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  • Salt

Instructions:

  1. Chop your leek into small cylinders and fry in your oil until soft.
  2. Chop up your broccoli into small pieces and add your vegetable stock into your pan with the leeks. Cook for 10 minutes.
  3. After the broccoli has cooked, blend it with a hand blender until smooth.
  4. Crumble your stilton and grate your cheddar into the soup until it melts. Salt to taste and stir until it is all incorporated and it is ready to serve.

With the weather turning cooler, it means that soup season is on its way. While nothing beats a pot of freshly-prepared soup, sometimes you just don’t have the energy, you know? There is no shame in grabbing a can of tinned soup — as long as you can get it open. If your can opener has gone AWOL, try out these tricks. 

Hot Water

Yes, we know, you heat the soup up after you’ve poured it out of the can. But heating up the tin itself can help pry it open. Place the closed can in a pot of boiling for a few minutes. The metal will expand slightly from the heat, and you can then use a sharp utensil to push out the lid.

A Spoon

One of the more traditional methods is that of a spoon. Place the handle of the spoon on the edge of the lid and move back and forth to create a groove. Do this enough to weaken the tin, then apply pressure to pry it open.

A Stone

This one definitely needs a bit of patience. Find a rough, flat surface like a stone or concrete. Hold the can firmly and rub the lid’s edge against the abrasive surface until it wears down enough to create a small hole.
