Cauliflower wings, a plant-based twist on traditional chicken wings, have taken the culinary world by storm with their crispy texture and flavorful coatings. As crunchy and delicious bites of vegetarian goodness, these cauliflower wings are sure to become a favorite snack or appetizer. Here’s how to make them.

Ingredients:

  • 1 head of cauliflower, cut into florets
  • 1 cup of all-purpose flour (or chickpea flour for a gluten-free option)
  • 1 cup of non-dairy milk (such as almond, soy, or oat milk)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Your favorite hot sauce or barbecue sauce for coating
  • Cooking spray or oil for baking

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it with cooking spray or oil.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, non-dairy milk, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper until smooth and well combined.
  3. Dip each cauliflower floret into the batter, making sure it’s evenly coated on all sides, then shake off any excess batter. Place the coated cauliflower florets onto the prepared baking sheet in a single layer, leaving space between each piece to ensure even cooking.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through, or until the cauliflower wings are golden brown and crispy. Once the cauliflower wings are baked, remove them from the oven and transfer them to a mixing bowl.
  5. Drizzle your favorite hot sauce or barbecue sauce over the cauliflower wings and toss until they are evenly coated. Serve the cauliflower wings hot with a side of vegan ranch or blue cheese dressing for dipping.

Cereal Crusted Cauliflower

If you’re a huge fan of crispy snacks, you have to try frying cauliflowers coated with your favorite brand of corn flakes.

Potato and Cauliflower Croquettes

These delicious croquettes combine two of our favorite veggies—potatoes and cauliflower—and they’re really the best of both worlds.

What’s your favorite way to cook potatoes? I know it’s not the healthiest but I love frying them. 👀 these are the potato and cauliflower croquettes but they’re in ball shapes this time around! The full recipe is on www.thefoodietakesflight.com. 🌿 __ I’ve been so busy lately that it hasn’t really sunk it yet that it’s April, and it’s my 4th year as a vegan this month. It’s been an unforgettable 4 years on this journey learning so much about myself and also about everything else around me. Veganism has opened my eyes not just to the realities of animal agriculture but it’s made me more compassionate and conscious towards other beings and most especially the environment. I’ve had amazing opportunities and met so many people along the way that wouldn’t have been if I didn’t make that one decision. So I’m very grateful for everything! I also had a fun afternoon trying all those vegan desserts for PETA’s best vegan dessert competition. It’s been a challenging past few days because of all that’s been going on and it’s definitely tested my time-management skills but I’m very thankful for everything still. (P.S. 4-Ingredient Cauliflower Pops

If you’re looking for a super-quick and easy recipe, these vegan pops can be made with only four ingredients, and you can serve them with your favorite dipping sauce.

Glazed Orange Cauliflower “Chicken”

Cauliflower is often used as the main ingredient in vegan “chicken” recipes, and orange juice glaze really brings out the best in it.

Chili Mango Glazed Cauliflower

If you’re not a huge fan of orange, and you want to try a cauliflower recipe with a spicy taste—this recipe will rock your world.

View this post on Instagram

Chili Mango Glazed Cauliflower 👀 I made this recipe for the first time last July and recently just tried it again this time around with a few adjustments. You can find the recipe below. I used my crispy cauliflower recipe as the base for this one. Hope you like it! CHILI MANGO GLAZED CAULIFLOWER Chili Mango Glaze 1/2 cup distilled white vinegar  1/2 cup to 3/4 cup sugar, adjust according to desired sweetness 1 very ripe mango, 160g of flesh  2 tbsp lime juice Pinch of salt 1-2 tsp sriracha or other chili sauce, feel free to adjust according to desired spice 1 1/2 tbsp cornstarch + 3 tbsp room temperature water, mixed into a slurry Bell peppers (optional) Spring onions (optional) 1. In a blender, add in all the ingredients except the cornstarch and water mix. Feel free to adjust according to desired taste. 2. (If not using bell peppers skip to step 3) Heat the sauce pan and add a little oil. Sauté the bell peppers until cooked. 3. In a sauce pan, pour in the puree. 4. Leave to simmer until it boils. Once it boils, add in the cornstarch mixture. Stir until it starts to thicken.Turn off heat and add in the cauliflower. Coat well then sprinkle some spring onions if desired. Crispy cauliflower (the base) 2 small heads of raw cauliflower (around 650g total), makes around 3 cups of florets Canola or other neutral oil, for frying Batter: 1/2 cup all-purpose flour  1 tbsp corn starch  1 tsp baking powder 1 tsp salt 3/4 cup room temp. water Breading: 2 cups Japanese breadcrumbs or breadcrumbs of choice 1. In a bowl, mix the ingredients for the batter until it turns into a smooth, thick consistency. 2. Evenly coat the florets in the batter. You can do this in batches. In another bowl or plate, add in the bread crumbs. 3. One by one, place each cauliflower from the batter into the breadcrumb mixture. Coat well using one hand (this is to avoid messy hands—I usually use one hand for dry and one hand for wet when coating cauliflower). Press down the bread crumbs on the cauliflower. Set aside once coated. Full recipe and steps for the crispy cauli here: https://www.thefoodietakesflight.com/blog/categories/cauliflower-recipes . . . . . . . . . . #thefoodietakesflight

Cauliflower: broccoli’s albino cousin. Bane of many children’s dinners. While it’s a great source of Vitamin C, Vitamin K, protein, and more, it seems like kryptonite to most kids. But, with this delicious recipe, you may just be able to change your child’s mind about cauliflower.

Aloo Gobhi

While the name may sound a bit off-putting, this delicious dish made with potatoes (aloo), cauliflower (gobhi), and Indian spices is completely vegetarian and makes a great hot dinner. It gets its yellow color from turmeric, and also blends flavors like mustard seeds, cumin, onions, curry, chilli powder, and coriander. This recipe even features fresh coriander leaves!

What Recipes Won’t Tell You

You’ll find recipes for this curry dish all over the internet and in any cookbook that lists Indian staples. What the recipe won’t tell you, however, is how to choose your ingredients.

For instance, your potatoes should be waxy in order to achieve a fluffier result. Using tomatoes in your aloo gobhi dish will bring moisture to the dry meal, especially if you opt for a tomato puree (just a bit will do). When it comes to adding chili powder to your dish, consider who you’re serving, as this will determine much of the spiciness of the dish.

No matter which recipe you use, aloo gobhi is an Indian staple and a great vegetarian curry to serve the whole family.

But, if you are vegetarian, or trying to eat less meat, you can still enjoy that gorgeous sauce just on something a little healthier like cauliflower. This buffalo cauliflower is jam-packed with flavor that will make you forget all about chicken.

Cauliflower

  1. Preheat the oven to 450 F.
  2. Mix together 1 cup of water, 1 cup of flour and 1 teaspoon of salt and garlic powder, each in a large bowl.
  3. Cut a head of cauliflower in florets and cover all of them in the batter.
  4. Put the florets on a parchment lined baking sheet and cook for 20 minutes or until golden.

Buffalo Sauce

  1. In a saucepan, combine 1/2 cup of your favorite hot sauce, 3 tablespoons of unsalted butter, 1/2 tablespoon of white vinegar, a splash of Worcestershire sauce, and a pinch of salt, paprika, cayenne, and garlic powder.
  2. Mix well until the butter has melted and then wait until it comes to a simmer to take it off the heat.
  3. Pour the mixture over the baked cauliflower and put them back into the oven for 8-10 minutes until they get really crispy, but not burnt.
  4. Serve with them with ranch dressing and enjoy!
