There’s nothing more comforting than hot, tasty stew when it’s cold and miserable out. Letting this simmer for a while is the secret here, as this results in soft, succulent chunks of beef and super flavorsome vegetables. This can be served with some simple yet satisfying mashed potato, or you could try making some dumplings to throw on top of the stew 5 minutes before the end of the cooking time.

Ingredients (serves 4):

  • 15 oz stewing steak chunks
  • 1 large white onion
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 2 large carrots
  • ½ swede
  • 2 cups beef stock
  • 1 cup red wine

Instructions:

  1. Chop up the onion, carrots, swede, and garlic
  2. In a large pot heat some oil and then  add the onion, carrots, and swede
  3. Fry this for 5-10 minutes, until the veg has started to soften
  4. Add the beef chunks and continue to fry for another 5 minutes
  5. Add the garlic, thyme, and paprika and fry for another 5 minutes, until there’s no visible pinkness to the beef
  6. Pour in the beef stock and the red wine, and increase the heat, stirring regularly
  7. Continue to let this simmer for 20-30 minutes, stirring to make sure the bottom doesn’t stick
  8. When the liquid has thickened, it’s ready to serve – enjoy!

This classic Chinese-American dish is a restaurant favorite of ours, but now that we’re social distancing, we’ve figured out how to make it at home. This recipe is ready in less than an hour, which is quicker than it would take to get carry-out. It’s meant for four people and it’s best served with rice.

Ingredients:

  • 2/3 cup low-sodium soy sauce, divided
  • Juice of 1/2 lime
  • 3 tbsp. packed brown sugar, divided
  • 2 tbsp. cornstarch, divided
  • Kosher salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 lb. sirloin steak, sliced thinly against the grain
  • 2 tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/3 cup Low-sodium beef (or chicken) broth
  • 2 tsp. Sriracha (optional)
  • 1 head broccoli, cut into florets
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish
  • Thinly sliced green onions, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Whisk 1/3 cup soy sauce, lime juice, 1 tablespoon brown sugar, and 1 tablespoon cornstarch in a medium bowl.
  2. Add steak and season with salt and pepper. Toss until the steak is coated, and marinate it for 20 minutes.
  3. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, heat oil and add steak in a single layer, working in batches, and cook it until it’s seared, about 2 minutes per side. Remove the steak and set it aside.
  4. Add garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute. Stir in remaining tablespoon of cornstarch until the garlic is coated, then stir in the broth, the remaining 2 tablespoons brown sugar, remaining 1/3 cup soy sauce, and Sriracha.
  5. Bring the mixture to a simmer and add broccoli, cooking until it’s tender, about 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper then put the steak back into the skillet.
  6. Before serving, garnish with sesame seeds and green onions.

Cooking beef brisket requires knowledge and patience. If you’ve never tried it, you may even wonder what beef brisket actually is. We’re bringing you some answers today.

Brisket is a beef cut that comes from the cow’s breast. It’s tough and inexpensive, but it can be cooked to become tender and delicious. Brisket is a large piece of meat that can weight up to eight pounds.

The best cooking method for brisket includes low heat and long cooking time. Braising, smoking, and brining are some great options for preparing brisket. Depending on the cooking method, it can take from three to 12 hours to be ready.

The taste of brisket depends on the cooking method. Brined or smoked brisket will have specific flavors very different from braised brisket. Try a few options to see which one you like the most.

Are you going to try cooking your own brisket? Even though it may sound a bit intimidating, the result is definitely worth the effort!

Roast beef is just as it sounds; roasted beef. Often times people will find this dish in a sandwich or hot out of the oven with potatoes and veggies. Although it may seem like an intimidating dish to prepare when in reality, it is very simple and requires almost no technique or equipment. Once you learn how to make roast beef, you can prepare it at the drop of a hot, so follow these tips and prepare to wow yourself!

Cut of Beef

Different recipes will say to use different cuts of beef, but try to go for rump roast or topside of beef. These are both from the round section of the cow, and deliver the best results in the oven.

Twine

Make sure to tie the beef with kitchen twine every 3 inches. This is important not only to make sure the roast looks aesthetically the same throughout but to cook it evenly as well.

Roasting

When you roast the beef, you don’t need to do much to it. The only thing you should check is to see if it’s looking dry. In that case, use the juices from the beef to baste it, or to put it back onto the beef so it stays moist.
