]]>It’s been a decade since Turnbull decided to go vegan, but she admits making this transition wasn’t easy. She grew up in a family of chefs, butchers, and hunters, and spent most of her life eating meat on a regular basis.
She decided to change her ways after watching the documentaries Vegucated and Forks Over Knives. Going vegan seemed like a sound personal choice because it was better for her health, the environment, and the animals, but she struggled to adopt this lifestyle at first.
The biggest problem that Turnbull faced were complicated and inaccessible plant-based recipes. They contained expensive ingredients that weren’t easy to find, and her food never tasted delicious, even after she put a lot of love and energy into it.
This changed once she decided to do things her own way, and put a vegan twist on foods that she already knows and loves.
“I fell in love with recipe writing. It was so fun, creative, and tasty! Not only that, but I was helping to show people that a plant-based diet can be totally delicious, easy, doable, and good for you! Now, fast forward 10 years, and I’m proud to be that weird vegan girl,” she explains on her blog.
