TikToker Shares Secret to Perfect Crispy Roasted Potatoes

Cooking food the right way has never been simpler. Thanks to online tutorials and recipes, it is now easy to get the dish to look and taste just the way you want. This is especially the case if you pay attention to TikTok and use some of the hacks and tricks found on this resourceful social media platform.

We recently got down the rabbit hole of TikTok’s food-related content and discovered a Holy Grail; a secret to perfect crispy roasted potatoes. It was shared by user Jeremy Scheck and will change the way you roast potatoes forever.

Scheck’s recipe for roasted potatoes starts with washing Yukon Gold potatoes and dicing them to the desired size. You can also use red-skinned potatoes as a substitute.

Then, he puts them in a pot of cold water and adds almost a handful of kosher salt. According to him, this much salt is required to season the potatoes from the inside. Next, the potatoes need to be boiled for 10-15 minutes or until tender.

Once the potatoes are boiled, Scheck “roughens them” with a spoon to increase the surface area that will get crispy. He then puts them on a sheet pan and tops them with olive oil, Old Bay seasoning, sweet paprika, black pepper, and rosemary.

The potatoes are finished off with kosher salt before being roasted in an oven at 450F for 20 minutes. To get them extra crispy, Scheck recommends leaving them for extra 10 minutes in an oven turned off.

The final result is really impressive and made us immediately try this technique. And so should you, because nothing will be the same anymore.
