Three Oatmeal Toppings For Fall

Oatmeal is one of those dishes that is sure to conjure up a feeling of coziness, which makes it the perfect breakfast or brunch option as we enter fall. Make it extra special, with one of these delicious, seasonal toppings.

Apple and Cinnamon Butter

Ingredients:

  • 1 apple
  • 1/4 cup of butter
  • 1 tsp of cinnamon

Instructions:

Slice the apple into thin slices. Melt the butter, add the cinnamon, and stir it through. Add the apple to the pan, and cook until it has softened. Place on top of the oatmeal and eat immediately.

Berry Compote and Yogurt

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of mixed berries
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • 1/2 cup of yogurt

Instructions:

Add the berries and sugar to a pan, and cook on low heat until the berries are falling apart. Mix into some of the yogurt, and use to top your oatmeal.

Pear and Caramel Sauce:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1/4 cup of water
  • 1/2 cup of cream
  • 1/4 cup of butter
  • 4 pears

Instructions:

Heat the sugar in a pan with the water until the water dissolves and the sugar starts to bubble and turn into caramel. Remove from the heat, stir in the butter and cream. Slice the pears, drizzle some of the caramel sauce over them, and then place on top of your oatmeal.
