When it comes to sandwiches, at least those made with sliced bread, they are usually cut in one of three ways: diagonally, vertically, or horizontally. And you may think that there is no other way of doing it. Well, as it turns out, there is.

X (former Twitter) user Ryan Duff recently introduced his own way of cutting sandwiches that have been taking the internet by storm. Calling it the “Duff Cut, “Duff is cutting sandwiches in the shape of the letter “Y. “

Duff demonstrated his “Duff Cut” on a ham and cheese sandwich and shared a photo on X, with the post being viewed 19 million times.

We have to admit that we understand all the hype. The sandwich somehow looks even more appetizing when cut this way. And a lot of other X users agreed.

“I cut my sandwich like this today and I’ll be honest you really did something here,” @throeingit tweeted.

“I didn’t know it was legal to cut a sandwich this way. You made twice as much sandwich out of the sandwich,” @Bonecondor added.

If you need more convincing to try out this revolutionary way of cutting sandwiches, check out more examples below.

Whether you’re looking for a quick and easy meal at the office or need to ensure that your kids have enough to eat at school, making a sandwich is always a good idea. Here are some tips to help you become a sandwich-making expert.

Prep Your Ingredients Ahead of Time

Think about what you want on your sandwich the night before you need it. Then, prepare all of the ingredients and store them so that all you have to do in the morning is put them between two slices of bread.

Toast the Bread

By toasting your bread, you’ll make it firm. This ultimately makes it easier to pack all of the ingredients inside. Of course, toasted bread can also provide more flavor.

Get the Kids Involved

If it’s children who you’re preparing the sandwich for, then make sure to get them involved in the process. This will help them to learn the process while also spending quality time with you.

You know what September means—the kids are heading back to school for the new year. While this school year will look different than past years with many schools teaching remotely, it doesn’t mean that you can’t do your best to maintain a sense of normalcy. School lunches aren’t complete without sandwiches, but sandwiches can get boring quickly. With these adjustments, you can elevate typical sandwiches and make them healthier and more exciting.

Mashed Chickpea Salad Sandwich

This plant-based sandwich is packed with protein and all you have to do is mash canned chickpeas with a potato masher until the chickpeas are the texture you want them to be. Then, put the chickpea mixture on bread and for healthy fat, add Greek yogurt or avocado. Top off the sandwich with greens, sprouts, lettuce, onion, and other veggies for some fiber. To add a bit of flavor, use lemon juice, garlic, mustard, dill, salt, and pepper.

PB&J

PB&Js are a classic for a reason and you can make them even more special by adding different nut butters like sunflower seed, almond butter, or cashew butter and replacing the jam with seasonal fruits like strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries. Top the sandwich with flax or hemp seeds for an added dose of protein.

Tuna Panini

Use the can of tuna you have in your pantry to make a tasty panini. Just add lemon juice, celery, pickles, and hot sauce to take it up a notch. For a real treat, add a slice of cheese to the sandwich.

Grilled Cheese

Who doesn’t love the melty cheese in a grilled cheese sandwich? You can elevate your sandwich by adding canned tomatoes, beats, or peas or you can opt for a sweeter option by adding peaches or pears with a bit of honey.
