Embark on a baking adventure and savor the fresh, chewy goodness of homemade bagels with this easy-to-follow recipe. You can add your favorite toppings and elevate your breakfast with the irresistible aroma and taste of freshly baked bagels. Here’s a recipe for how to make them.

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups of bread flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 1 1/2 cups of warm water (110°F/43°C)
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 quarts of water
  • 2 tablespoons sugar

Instructions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water and sugar. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Sprinkle the active dry yeast over the water and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy. Add the flour and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
  2. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for at least an hour, or until it doubles in size.
  3. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Bring two quarts of water to a boil in a large pot and add two tablespoons of sugar. Punch down the risen dough and divide it into equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball. Using your thumb, poke a hole through the center of each ball and stretch it to form a ring.
  4. Boil each bagel for 1-2 minutes on each side. Remove with a slotted spoon and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Brush the boiled bagels with vegetable oil and sprinkle with your choice of toppings, such as sesame or poppy seeds.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown. Allow the bagels to cool on a wire rack before slicing and serving. Customize your bagels with your favorite spreads, or create a classic sandwich.

  • 3 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 cup of milk
  • Lemon juice
  • 1 cup of parmesan

  • 1 small handful of walnuts
  • 1 small handful of pine nuts
  • Salt

Beans of any kind are a staple in a vegetarian or vegan diet, and making them from scratch is always the best way to go. Not only is it cheaper to make them yourself than buying in a can, they are much healthier because you control how much salt goes into it. Once you make them, you can use them in all sorts of dishes and dips, so let’s start cooking!

Instructions

  1. Soak the beans overnight. For every pound of beans you use, put in 10 cups of water. The trick to making them really soft and delicious is to switch out the water every few hours if you have the time.
  2. After the beans have been soaked, drain and rinse them a few times to get rid of the chemicals that came out overnight.
  3. Put them in a pot with another 10 cups of fresh water and 1 tablespoon of salt and bring to a boil.
  4. Bring it down to a simmer and continue to cook for 45 minutes, or until soft.
  5. Drain and enjoy!

Dishes

Once the beans are cooked, you can use them for Tex-Mex dishes like burritos or tacos, red beans, and rice, bean chili, or mash them for a dip.

Winter is an easy time to get sick because of poor air circulation, bad eating habits, and more. To protect yourself from all these forces and more, you need to have a go-to drink to consume before you get sick as a preventative measure.

This amazing ginger tea does just that and more. Ginger is antiviral, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and more, as well as a huge digestive aid. So if you are ready to get serious about your health, get to brewing!

To make this tea, first, start out with some ginger root. If you buy organic ginger, you can actually keep the skin on. If you do not, scrape it off with the back of a spoon.

Then, chop it into slices and add it to a pot of water. Into the pot, you can also add the peel of a lemon, orange, or lime, as well as any extra spices like cloves or star anise.

Bring that all to a boil, let it cook for 15 minutes at a simmer, and then strain out the pieces.

Keep this in a jar that you can warm up for several days and stay healthy!

Cornbread is a classic American dish that is mostly enjoyed around the holidays but really brightens up any table. It is light, fluffy, and works so well with a variety of meals. 2/3 cup of sugar
1 teaspoon of salt

Cereal is a breakfast staple almost everyone grew up with. It’s convenient and delicious for when you wake up, but the uses don’t stop there! If you love cereal and want to experiment with it in different applications, try these recipes that put cereal first.

https://www.instagram.com/p/Bru_znqlBOR/

Cornflakes

Everyone loves fried chicken, but no one needs all those calories and fat from deep frying. Instead, make this cornflakes-crusted baked chicken and get all the crunch you need to be satisfied!

Simply crush up some cornflakes and mix them with melted butter. Combine an egg with 1 teaspoon of water and mix well. Dip your chicken into the egg mixture and then roll it around in the cornflakes. Bake at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for about 30 minutes and you have a delicious crunchy dinner!

Cereal Treats

A classic childhood sweet snack is the Rice Krispies treat. Instead of making it with puffed rice cereal, you can use whatever you have on hand, which makes this recipe fun and super flexible!

If you want to keep the sweetness in check, use cheerios. But if you want to go the sugary route, go for it! Just melt marshmallows and butter together in a saucepan, pour in your cereal, and coat well. Pour into a greased dish, chill, cut, and enjoy!

There is nothing better than waking up on a Sunday morning and having brunch with your friends. All the delicious dishes, the good company and, of course, freshly-squeezed orange juice.

Unfortunately, that glass can sometimes cost a pretty penny, but if you simply can’t live without it, make it and other citrus juices at home! If you need convincing or guidance, read on.

Money Saver

A small glass of orange juice can cost upwards of $4 at a restaurant, which is really quite a lot of money. Instead, buy oranges in bulk and make your own at home! A lot of grocery stores will sell them in 1, 2 or even 5-pound bags, and for a much more reasonable price.

No Special Tools

Making any freshly-squeezed citrus juice is really simple to do and doesn’t require any special machinery. All you have to do is cut them in half or quarters, depending on how big your fruit is, and squeeze it into your cup! Or, you can buy a cheap hand juicer.

Many Varieties

https://www.instagram.com/p/Bqry_aZjA7c/

The best part of making juice at home is that you can customize it your liking! You can make straight up juices like orange or grapefruit, but you can also combine them with other citruses like pomelo, lime, and more!

Buttermilk is definitely not something the average household keeps on hand, because it is so rich and not widely used. But when a recipe calls for it, don’t skip over it and use regular milk just because you don’t have it in your fridge, make it yourself! It is super easy to do, and once you know how to make it, you’ll never have to buy it again.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BmcGL8yl0qs/

Instructions

There are no fancy products to make homemade buttermilk, you just need some sort of milk and an acid component. For the acid, you can choose vinegar or lemon juice, whatever you have.

Simply pour 1 cup of milk into a jug and add in 1 tablespoon of acid and stir. In a few minutes, the acid will curdle the milk just enough to give you buttermilk!

Uses

https://www.instagram.com/p/BqxinXdHeq5/

A great use for buttermilk is marinating some chicken in it before you roast or fry it. You can also use it in place of regular milk for truly out-of-this-world pancakes, or you can even make your own homemade ranch dressing from it! The good thing about making it at home is that you can make as much or as little as you need.

Tools

The only appliance you need for this recipe is a food processor or a high-speed blender.

Instructions

  1. Start off by toasting 140 grams of sesame seeds in a pan without any oil for about 3 minutes until you smell their natural nuttiness. The seeds are really small, so make sure to move them around so they don’t burn.
  2. Pour the seeds into your kitchen appliance of choice and start blending.
  3. Scrape down the sides every so often, and when you see it can’t be blended any more, start adding some oil.
  4. The oil you choose should be flavorless, so go with a vegetable oil, grapeseed, or canola.
  5. Add in 2-4 tablespoons of the oil of your choice while the motor is running until you get a creamy tahini sauce.
  6. The recipe makes about 1/2 cup of tahini and can be stored in the fridge for up to a month!

Cornbread is a classic American dish that is mostly enjoyed around the holidays but really brightens up any table. It is light, fluffy, and works so well with a variety of meals. It is also really simple to make and doesn’t require much preparation beforehand, so you can make it in a snap and bring it to a dinner, or just enjoy it with any weeknight meal.

Ingredients

For this cornbread, you will need:
1 cup of both cornmeal and all-purpose flour
2/3 cup of sugar
1 teaspoon of salt
3 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder
1 egg
1 cup of milk
1/3 cup of neutral oil

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, stir in all the dry ingredients and mix well to combine.
  2. Then, pour in all of the wet ingredients, which are the egg, milk, and oil, and mix until a batter comes out.
  3. Grease a pan or a baking dish and then pour in the mixture.
  4. Bake at 400 F for 20-25 minutes. The cornbread will be done when you stick a toothpick into the center and it comes out clean.
  5. Cut the cornbread into squares and serve with three bean chili, making a stuffing, or serving at a cook out or with a big plate of BBQ.

Cereal is a breakfast staple almost everyone grew up with. It’s convenient and delicious for when you wake up, but the uses don’t stop there! If you love cereal and want to experiment with it in different applications, try these recipes that put cereal first.

The best part of making juice at home is that you can customize it your liking! You can make straight up juices like orange or grapefruit, but you can also combine them with other citruses like pomelo, lime, and more!

Buttermilk is definitely not something the average household keeps on hand, because it is so rich and not widely used. But when a recipe calls for it, don’t skip over it and use regular milk just because you don’t have it in your fridge, make it yourself! It is super easy to do, and once you know how to make it, you’ll never have to buy it again.

Uses
