]]>While bursting with flavor, this frozen dessert is actually quite simple to make. All you need is to chop up 140g of strawberries and place them in a large bowl with condensed milk and 500g of Greek yogurt. Freeze it overnight and remember to remove it from the freezer around 15 minutes before serving.
Peel and chop up some apples and place them in a pan with water. Heat the pan on the stove and once the water is boiling, pour 340g of oats, two teaspoons of vanilla extract, and two tablespoons of cinnamon. Finally, add soya yogurt to the mix.
This chocolate pudding takes just five minutes to make. Put chia seeds, almond milk, cacao powder, maple syrup, and vanilla extract into a bowl and whisk thoroughly. Add frozen berries to top it all off and freeze the dessert overnight.

]]>We understand the “from scratch” argument. The artist within us understands it. We respect the process, love, and passion it takes to get to a point where you can make a recipe on your own and be proud of it. For this reason, we certainly believe there’s plenty of merit and credit that comes from making a cake from scratch.
However, we also have to talk about the elephant in the room. Not-from-scratch cakes taste pretty darn awesome. And at the end of the day, that’s what matters most… right? Also, we understand that not-from-scratch cakes require “less assorting”, but ultimately, it’s not like no brands are involved with making recipes from scratch either.
Let’s be real with ourselves. When you’re making a cake “from scratch”, you’re still getting a recipe from someone else. The ingredients you’re buying, while yes, you’re buying them separately, they’re still products created by brands as well.

]]>Trifle is the perfect jar dessert that’s easy to prepare and very flavorful. There are plenty of trifle ideas out there and all of them can be served in a jar, just like this delicious and creamy brownie and strawberry trifle.
This creamy Italian delicacy is by far the most popular coffee dessert in the world, and it’s also one of the desserts that you can easily serve in a jar to impress your guests.
Cheesecake is another world-renowned dessert that you should try to make in a jar or a glass, since it will look very cute and decadent. Pretty much any type of cheesecake can be served in a jar, as long as it’s a no-bake recipe.
If you love preparing cupcakes for your kids but hate the mess they leave behind, cupcakes in a jar are the perfect solution.

]]>The post Make a Nutella Cake in a Mug appeared first on thedancingcucumber.com.
]]>The recipe comes from chef Catherine Brookes of Blue Sky Eating. If you have a microwave and a mug, you can make it right now. The ingredients are very basic and you probably already have all of them in your kitchen. They include flour, sugar, milk, and an egg. The only thing you may miss is Nutella, so run to the store to get a jar before you start. While you’re there, grab some things to use for toppings, like whipped cream and fresh fruit.
Our tip is to start the process by lightly greasing the mug so the batter won’t stick. You can use a separate mug for mixing the ingredients but that’s not really necessary. Find the full recipe in the video below.

]]>Cataloguing and rating anything edible (with special emphasis on sweets), Katie firmly believes that every place has something good to offer and is determined to find it. “The Tasty Traveler has been a project since 2016, when I began blogging while traveling in Europe and living in Prague,” she explains on her personal website. “Before starting the blog, I was incredibly active on Yelp writing reviews across the USA, with a heavy focus on Oklahoma and Colorado.”
A life-long nomad, Katie has lived in seven different countries, visited over 30, and has had serious bouts of food poisoning in at least five of those beautiful places. Now her main focus is on Tokyo, her current home. Her blog posts include a Tokyo Pancake Quest, The Japanese Kit Kat Project, and Marigold Dessert Ranking.
Recent articles also include a deep dive into Japanese insect cuisine (shudder). “By the time we made it to dessert, I felt like a new carnivore,” writes Katie. “I was proud of myself for eating all the creepy, crunchy, and squishy things. I was also pleasantly surprised by how much of the food wasn’t awful. I was fully expecting to be grossed out by every dish, but only a few really made me hesitate. It was difficult at first, but at the end of the day, they’re just bugs.”
We’d rather go for Japanese pancakes.

]]>Nothing says Easter like a chocolate egg. While decorating Easter eggs might be more colorful and beautiful, a hardboiled egg doesn’t exactly leave a kid as happy as one made of chocolate does. You can find them in stores and bakeries everywhere, or you could even try making one yourself!
Easter is known for its pastel colors, and Peeps are a Marshmallow-based treat that you can find in pastel tones of pink, purple, yellow, and blue. Your kids will love these fluffy, sweet candies which are produced in the form of chicks.
Are you looking for a fun treat to make with your children for Easter? We love birds nest cookies, a cute and tasty treat that is made with melted chocolate, pretzel sticks, and topped with small Cadbury eggs. They’re as beautiful as they are delicious!

]]>Incredibly enough, McKenney is entirely self-taught, admitting to being in the kitchen most of her life. “From a very young age, I watched my mom and grandma work their baking magic, and once I picked up my first mixing spoon, I was hooked!” she recalls on her website.
According to McKenney, she first launched her website in 2011 as a personal blog and an easy way to share baking recipes with friends and family. But just a year and a half later, she quit her full-time job to build Sally’s Baking Addiction into a business.
Now her blog and accompanying Instagram page offers hundreds of from-scratch recipes, alongside plenty of helpful kitchen tips, lessons on baking basics, step-by-step photos, and video tutorials that will encourage you to grow and have confidence in the kitchen.
And with fall in full bloom, she admits to being an avid pumpkin eater. “It’s my favorite flavor to bake with,” she shared in an interview with Bakepedia. “I eat it all year round, but we are coming into the season where people look for it… pies, breads, all kinds of desserts with pumpkin! And apple pie is my very favorite dessert, so you can look forward to variations of that.”
Grab a cookie, take a seat, and have fun skimming through her recipes!

]]>The post Spices that Make a Pumpkin Pie Taste Just Right appeared first on thedancingcucumber.com.
]]>The most recognizable taste in pumpkin pie spice is cinnamon—a spicy, sweet, and warm spice, which gives the backbone to the rest of the spice flavors that are found within the mix, along with helping out its aroma.
One of the main sources of the aroma in pumpkin pie is nutmeg. Containing a smell that many describe as resembling that of a forest, its slightly sweet flavor also enhances the dessert.
Most people either love ginger or hate it, but its presence in pumpkin pie is complementary and you might not even notice it. The sharp, peppery taste and smell of this spice is hardly noticeable—unless you really pay attention—but in its small dose does wonders.
Finally, cloves are the last common spice found in pumpkin pie. This dried-out tree bud is ground into the mix in small quantities and provides a hint of a pungent sweetness and warmth that is unmistakable.
