If baking happens to be one of your favorite hobbies, a good set of muffin pans is a pretty good investment. The first step is to choose between steel and silicone muffin pans, and this brief guide is here to help you make the right choice.

Steel Muffin Pans

If you’re thinking of buying stainless steel or aluminum muffin pans, you’re making a solid choice. Your muffins will bake evenly because they’re great at conducting heat, but they have their downsides.

Nonstick stainless steel pans are pretty durable, especially the ones made from thick aluminum, but they’ll rust over time so think twice before buying them.

Silicone Muffin Pans

Silicone muffin pans became a huge hit thanks to their flexible form. Muffins are pretty easy to pop out when you bake them this way, and it also comes in handy that they’re freezer, dishwasher, and microwave safe.

Unfortunately, muffins pans usually can’t be used on their own and have to be placed on a baking sheet before you put them in the oven. You can avoid this hustle by buying a silicone muffin pan that has a built-in steel frame, but they still won’t bake as evenly as they would in a steel muffin pan.
