Savory Pancake Fillings for a Delicious Breakfast

Sweet pancakes are great, but what if you’re really craving a savory start to the day? Enter, the savory pancake filling—satisfying and delicious, these fillings give you the option to enjoy pancakes when you’re not in the mood for lemon and sugar.

Bacon and Leek

Ingredients (to serve 2):

  • 1 leek
  • 4 slices of bacon
  • 1 tablespoon of oil
  • 1 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons of cream

Instructions:

  1. Heat the oil in a pan.
  2. Finely slice the leek and add it to the pan. Cook until the leek has softened, this usually takes around 10 minutes. Slice the bacon into strips. Add these to the pan along with the black pepper, and cook until the bacon is ready.
  3. Stir the cream through the mix, and then fill your pancakes.

Spinach and Cheese

Ingredients (to serve 2):

  • 1 cup of grated cheese
  • 2 cups of fresh spinach
  • 1 tablespoon of butter
  • Juice of half a lemon

Instructions:

  1. Heat the butter in the pan and add the spinach.
  2. Cook until the spinach wilts, then add the lemon juice.
  3. Fill your pancakes with the cooked spinach and a handful of grated cheese.

Salmon and Cream Cheese

Ingredients (to serve 2):

  • 4 slices of smoked salmon
  • 3/4 cup of cream cheese
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 teaspoon of ground black pepper

Instructions:

  1. Finely slice the salmon into strips.
  2. Mix the lemon juice and black pepper into the cream cheese.
  3. Fill your pancakes with the salmon and cream cheese mix.
