If you’re a meat lover who starts salivating at the thought of visiting a quality steakhouse, then these juicy braised short ribs are for you. Here is how you can cook restaurant-quality braised short ribs in your own kitchen.

Ingredients:

  • 8 pieces of short rib
  • 3 garlic heads
  • 1 onion
  • 4 carrots
  • 4 celery stalks
  • extra virgin olive oil
  • tomato paste
  • beef broth
  • dried bay leaves
  • 1 cup red wine
  • lemon juice
  • lemon zest

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 300°F and set out a pot filled with olive oil. Heat the pot over a medium-high heat.
  2. Season the short ribs with salt and pepper before tossing into the pot. Cook until browned on all sides, which could take around 2 minutes per side.
  3. Place the ribs on a plate and pour out all but two tablespoons of fat from the pot. Place the garlic in the pot and cook for 1 minute. Then, add the onion, carrots, and celery into the pot and season with salt and pepper. Cook the mixture for about five minutes, stirring often until softened.
  4. Add tomato paste, bay leaves, and diced tomatoes to the mix. Place the short ribs back into the pot and add beef broth and wine, bringing the mixture to boiling point.
  5. Transfer the mixture to the oven, allowing the beef to cook for about 3 to 3 and a half hours until the meat is very tender.
  6. Once ready, add lemon juice and zest.
