Fig season is in full swing, as these delicious Mediterranean fruits will be in season until the middle of the fall season. If you find yourself lucky enough to find them at your local market, you might be wondering what you can do with these delicious fruits. Have no fear, as here are three great uses for fresh figs that you can only use during their relatively short season!

Eat Them By Themselves

While most of us aren’t used to eating them, fresh figs are a sweet and delicious treat. All of the fruit is edible except for its stem, which you should cut off. Other than that, just slice open, take small bites and enjoy its ultra-sweet flavor.

In Salads

Figs are a great topping for a salad as long as you don’t go over the top with them. They go great with ingredients like berries, spinach, and goat cheese. My favorite dressing to use on salads with figs is a balsamic vinaigrette.

On Toast

Have you ever tried fig toast before? Using a multi-grain, slightly sweet bread along with goat cheese or a relatively strong option can be the perfect combination between savory and sweet to start your morning!

Figs are one of the most underrated fall fruits, but Sarah Kermalli of Sculpted Kitchen is putting them front and center. She’s using figs to decorate many of her desserts these days, and they happen to be one of the main ingredients in these recipes from her Instagram page.

Figs Toast

If you’re a fan of sweet toast, you should try eating this one with your cup of tea in the morning. In addition to thinly sliced figs, you’ll also have to top your toast with a vegan yogurt spread, passion fruit, and wild blueberries—but any of these ingredients can be easily replaced.

Salted Chocolate Ganache

If you’re in the mood for a recipe that requires a bit more skill, how about making some salted chocolate ganache? The process of making it is pretty straightforward, and the final result would be quite ordinary if it wasn’t for figs topping that made the whole thing 100% better.

Fig Crumble Cake

If the previous two recipes don’t contain as many figs as you’d like, take things to the next level with this one. In addition to being topped with figs, this crumble cake contains fresh figs in its oat crumble, and they’re its main and the most delicious ingredient.

✨ Fig Crumble Cake ✨ I was asked why I do my photography and if it was driven by a desire to succeed or make a business out of it. I actually did intend to make this a food photography channel and started with @sculptedpilates and was trying to promote my Pilates business (ironically that didn’t do well) and posted my food one day. What followed after was meeting so many diverse and wonderful people around the world. As the account has evolved and my photography has improved a little, the desire to commercialize isn’t the driving force. I genuinely find the world of photography so excited that I want to jump out of bed and bake, cook &capture the images as well as I can! I genuinely think that if you’re appreciative of the small and positive things that come from your work, you’ll enjoy your work more than if your intention were to be profit driven. What drives you to do your page? ⭐ Fig Crumble cake: 2 flax eggs (2 T of chia/flax meal in 6 T of water) 1.5 cups of chopped fresh figs 3/4 cup of coconut or oat yogurt 3/4 cup of coconut sugar 1/2 cup of coconut oil or vegan butter 2 tsp of baking powder 3/4 cup of oats 1 1/2 AP flour Method: Preheat your oven to 350F Make your flax eggs, put aside Fluff/mix your sugar and butter/oil. Add in your wet ingredients and mix well. Add your dry ingredients slowly and just combine. Try not to overtax. Place inside a square pan or a small circular pan lined with parchment paper sprayed with cooking spray Make your oat crumble Oat crumble: 1/2 cup of flour 1/4 cup coconut sugar 1/3 cup of oats 5 T of cold vegan butter 1/2 cup of dried or fresh figs 1/3 cup sliced almonds Method: Combine the above ingredients and mix with fingers until it resembles crumbs. Place oat crumble on top of your prepared pan and place into oven for 70 minutes. But test with a chopstick. Some of your favorite fruits are also the ones that contain a lot of sugar. So instead of completely avoiding them once you read the list, try simply reducing the intake. Check out the fruits with most sugar to get to know more about these delicious treats.

Figs

Figs and grapes are on top of the fruits with most sugar list. That is the main reason why these tasty treats are so sweet. But it doesn’t mean that you should completely forget about figs. It only points out that you should limit how much you have.

Grapes

Just like figs, the grape is loaded on sugar. It is definitely something we all love to enjoy in it, especially at the end of the summer. Another amazing product from grapes is wine, so there is no chance in hell you should forget about this fruit.

Cherries

Cherries might be your favorite ones, but these fruits are packed with sugar. Only one cup of cherries has 18 grams of sugar. That sure does sound like quite a lot, but summer wouldn’t be the same without them.

Pears

Pears are another one of those sweet fruits that you simply can’t get enough. If you are trying to cut back on sugar, you might want to forget about pears.

Bananas

Bananas are extremely high in calories and also among the fruits with most sugar. But sugar is not the only thing they contain. Bananas are also packed in vitamins and minerals that make your life better.
