Giada De Laurentiis Shares Her Recipe for Chicken Piccata

Chicken piccata might sound like a complicated dish, but it is actually quite easy to make. Especially if you use a recipe by celebrity chef Giada De Laurentiis.

De Laurentiis recently shared her recipe for chicken piccata on TikTok, saying that it is the most requested dish by her followers. The numbers backed her claim, considering that the clip received close to three million views since being posted back in August.

How to Make Giada De Laurentiis’ Chicken Piccata

To start off, you will need to take chicken breasts and season them generously with salt and pepper. According to De Laurentiis, this is an important step as it gives flavor to every piece of chicken, especially if you are using skinless breasts.

After seasoning chicken breasts, dredge them in flour, but make sure not to overdo it. They need just “a little bit of flour.”

Next, mix butter and olive oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Once the sizzling starts, brown the chicken on both sides until they get a golden crust.

Take out the chicken onto a plate and then add ½ of chicken broth (or  ¾ cup if you like it “saucy”), whole lemon-worth of lemon juice, and ¼ cup of capers to the pan.

Once the sauce is slightly reduced, return the chicken breasts to the pan and finish cooking them. If you struggle to know when the chicken is done, De Laurentiis recommends touching it. A springy surface means that it needs to cook more, while a firm surface means it is already cooked.
