If you love cozy cafes or perhaps have an affinity for French flair, then a bistro is ideal for you. As one of the most bustling cities on earth, the Big Apple has no shortage of classic French bistros for you to enjoy. So, here are the best bistros that you can visit in New York City.

L’Express

This “Lyonaisse bouchon” is true to its roots, serving traditional dishes from the French city of Lyon including mussels, steak, escargot, and regional wines.

Manny’s Bistro

Just a few blocks away from the city’s arts hub of Lincoln Center, Manny’s Bistro is beloved by locals and tourists alike. This cafe offers a seamless blend of French and New York culinary delights as well as occasional musical performances.

Benoit New York

Located on 60 W 55th St, this bistro is meticulously remodeled after a Parisian bistro that has existed for over a century. From escargot to roast chicken and hand-chopped beef tartare, there’s something for everyone at Benoit New York.

One of the most common arguments we hear when it comes to “who has the best food” seems to always go back to pizza. Perhaps it’s because pizza is so delicious, or perhaps it’s because it’s so practical, but many people from all over the world swear that their city’s pizza is the best. So which U.S. cities reign supreme in the pizza department?

New York City, New York

We’d be remiss if we didn’t put New York City on this list. New Yorkers swear by their pizza and they’ve honestly got a pretty good point. Being that NYC is a melting pot of cultures, backgrounds, and cooking methods, it’s no surprise that the collective New York zeitgeist was able to formulate one of the greatest pizza cultures on the planet.

Chicago, Illinois

As great as New York’s pizza is, if you talk to someone from Chicago, they’ll laugh in your face. Chicagoans are persistent and stubborn about the idea that their pizza is actually the best that America has to offer. Known for their iconic deep-dish slice, Chicago pizzerias truly are one of the kind, and we truly recommend grabbing a slice if you’re ever in the area.

Chopped cheese for ya boy! #choppedcheese

No one really knows who created the chopped cheese, but your best chance of getting one is at a bodega. However, for some reason no places will actually put it on the menu, so you usually just have to ask and pray that it’s your lucky day! In Manhattan, you might not get as lucky, but in Brooklyn, the Bronx, and especially upper Manhattan and Harlem you shouldn’t have too much trouble.

One of the most famous places to get a chopped cheese is a place called Hajji’s Deli. This deli is located in Harlem and is probably the best known chopped cheese joint in the city. A lot of famous wrappers and other icons will go there for a chopped cheese, so if you happen to be in New York, stop on by and get a chopped cheese at as many other delis and bodegas as you can!
