]]>Closely observe the skin color of kiwis at your local grocery store to determine if they’re ripe or not. Distinctly green kiwis are usually overripe, so try to avoid them and go with kiwis with gold-like or dark brown skin instead because they tend to be much firmer.
The color isn’t the only thing you should be paying attention to when checking the skin of your kiwis. Keep a close eye on any potential signs of damage and moisture loss and try to avoid shriveled or withered kiwis with bruising, blemishes, and wrinkles.
You can test the ripeness of most fruits by gently squeezing them, and kiwis are no exception to this rule. If a kiwi yields to your squeeze, it’s good to go and you can give them some time to ripen if they’re too hard. Overly soft or mushy kiwis tend to be overripe, so avoid them at all costs.

Sure, we use a knife to prepare our kiwi too, but only to cut off the inedible ends. After this, we thoroughly wash the skin and eat it whole! Did you know that this was possible?
Well, it is. Eating kiwis with the skin on isn’t only possible, but it’s also delicious and healthy.
If you eat kiwis with the skin on, you will find several nutritional benefits that you might not have known existed. Peeling the skin off of a kiwi removes several key nutrients from the fruit. Leaving it on will provide you with a boost of fiber (up to three times more than skinned kiwi) as well as a rise in the amount of Vitamin C.
We don’t only eat the skin of kiwis for health reasons, though. We think that the skin provides a tart taste that makes kiwis even richer and more delicious. The texture takes some getting used to, but once you get over that, you’ll realize just how delicious it is.
