Are you someone who’s used to hosting dinner parties and having fun with your friends over home-cooked meals on a regular basis? If you are, then you probably miss them right now as we’re all forced to sit at home and avoid social gatherings. The good news is that you can try something new and make the quarantine days more interesting: a virtual dinner party.

Spending time with your friends doesn’t always have to mean sitting down at the same table. Cooking your favorite dish while your friends make whatever they love is a different kind of fun. You can also agree on the same food to make, it’s totally up to you. What matters the most is that you find a way to spend some time together, talk and laugh, and forget about the craziness in the world around you for a moment. It’s also a chance to dress up and get out of comfy sweats and pajamas for a few hours.

One of the advantages is that everyone’s at home already so you can drink without having to drive afterward!

If you, like millions of other people, find yourself staying at home all of a sudden, it can be difficult to stay productive and not fall into some new, bad habits. Sitting at home often goes together with eating more, and if you want to avoid this, here are our best tips.

Don’t Skip Meals

You may think that you will eat less if you skip breakfast or lunch, you’ll probably compensate for everything in the evening plus a lot more. Starving yourself will only lead to food cravings and you’ll crave unhealthy food and snacks most of the time.

Snack

Snacks are not bad, but you need to choose them carefully. Avoid industrial snacks and candy and go for nuts, fruits, yogurt, peanut butter, etc. There’s actually a big selection of healthy snacks you can enjoy every day!

Exercise

Exercising will help you fight stress that’s often the cause of overeating. If you’re already into exercise, make sure to keep the habit during the quarantine. If you haven’t been very active recently, now is a great time to start an online program and slowly get better on your own terms.

Being under lockdown is not easy, but it’s something many of us need to do right now as we’re fighting the new and unpredictable coronavirus. In case you’re among people who need to self-isolate at home, you’re going to need a decent food stash to get you through several weeks. Here’s what to shop for and how to use the foods in the most efficient way.

Eat This First

When buying items that go in the refrigerator, try to find the ones with longer shelf lives. For example, some milk varieties are only good for several days while others can last for months. When cooking, try to use up the items that will go bad soon so that you won’t have to throw them out eventually.

Fresh fruits and vegetables also can’t last very long, but the frozen options can, so keep the frozen ones in your freezer and use the fresh ones first.

Substitutions

Ran out of an item you need for a recipe? Chances are you can replace it with something else. Be creative and experiment with your dishes; isolation is the perfect time to take your cooking skills to another level.
