Ingredients:

  • 1/4 sugar ginger sliced into 1/8″ coins
  • 1/4 pound sugar
  • 5 ounces ginger ale
  • 2 ounces whiskey
  • 5 candied gingers
  • Lime wheel
  • Toothpick

Instructions:

  1. Place ginger in a medium-sized pan and pour enough water to cover the water. Over medium to high heat, allow the ginger to simmer for about 35 minutes, until tender.
  2. Toss sugar in a pan that equals the amount of ginger. Bring the ginger to a boil before reducing the heat and stir frequently for 15 to 20 minutes.
  3. Once the sugar crystallizes on the ginger, it’s time to allow the ginger to cool. Then, place it in the fridge.

Fall is apple cider season, and the number of cocktails that you can make with this staple drink is almost endless. I love combining the flavor of cinnamon with apple cider, as it makes a brilliant natural combination of two tastes that work well together.

Let’s learn how to make my favorite cinnamon apple cider cocktail!

Ingredients

  • 4 parts apple cider
  • 2 parts bourbon
  • 1 part cinnamon schnapps
  • 1 part ginger ale
  • Ice, to taste
  • Cinnamon stick, for garnish

Instructions

Take a cocktail shaker and add the apple cider, bourbon, cinnamon schnapps, and ginger ale. If you want to add ice as well, you can do so now or after you shake the beverage.

Shake thoroughly for about 10 seconds or so, ensuring that all of the liquid ingredients have combined nicely.

Pour out the mixture into a wide-mouthed cocktail glass, add more ice if you would like, and then garnish with a cinnamon stick.

This is a great beverage to enjoy next to a campfire or while socializing with friends or family during a football game or a game night. Enjoy!

Here are 3 creative variations on the gin-based cocktail for you to try at home.

Strawberry Tom Collins

Crush 4 strawberries and mix with 2 teaspoons sugar, 10ml lemon juice, 25ml gin, 20ml strawberry liqueur, 75ml soda water and crushed ice in a cocktail shaker. Shake and serve over crushed ice in a tall tumbler.

Grapefruit and Mint Mojito

Toss some mint leaves into a tumbler. Add 1/2 teaspoon sugar and 1/2 juice of a lime. Swirl the drink until the sugar has dissolved. Add ice, 50ml gin, juice of 1/2 grapefruit and 15ml Cointreau. Top the mix off with soda water and swirl it round with a straw. Garnish with a mint leaf—and voila!

Blood Orange and Elderflower

Combine 25ml gin, 80ml St Germaine Squeeze lime and 70ml Ginger Ale in a chilled glass. Top with ice, and then slowly pour in 25ml blood orange juice. Garnish your cocktail with slices of blood orange and fresh lemon thyme sprigs. Serve straight away for a refreshingly fine finish.

Now, when you add alcohol to the mix to make this cocktail even more enjoyable, it becomes a spiked affogato that is hard for anyone to say no to! Here’s how to make one in the comfort of your own kitchen.

Ingredients:

  • 4 ounces espresso coffee
  • 1 scoop vanilla ice cream
  • 1 ounce irish cream
  • 1 ounce Kahlua

Instructions:

  1. Start off by brewing 4 ounces of espresso coffee. If you don’t have an espresso maker, use whatever method you have at your disposal to make the strongest coffee possible. Set aside.
