Depending on where you live, September doesn’t always feel like fall as the weather might still be warm and the leaves hadn’t yet started changing. But now we’re in October, the fall-iest month of all, and there’s no better time to start breaking out all of those autumn-inspired recipes you’ve been saving all summer. Here are the ones we can’t wait to make.

Sweet Potato Lasagna

Sweet potatoes, one of the greatest gifts known to vegetables, are perfect as an ingredient in so many different dishes. One of our favorite uses of them? Plant-Based on a Budget’s sweet potato lasagna, which uses a mere handful of simple ingredients but offers so much flavorβ€”and nutrition!

Butternut Squash Soup

Creamy, savory, and orange, butternut squash soup is one of those meals that just screams fall. Eating Bird Food’s recipe is full of flavor with ingredients like carrot, apple, ginger, and sage adding a dimensional and delicious quality that keeps things interesting. Plus, it’s rather simple to make!

Apple Pie

Is there a recipe more fall than apple pie? Apples are at their absolute best in autumn, and this crumbly pie recipe from the Hellenic Odyssey uses that “grandma’s favorite” quality to be special and delicious. It’s simple but makes a big impression.

Fall is here, and the shops are full of pumpkins of all kinds. One member of the pumpkin family is particularly tasty, and in its cooked form it becomes soft and tender in the form of spaghetti threads.

It is very friendly for the home cooks, inexpensive, and widely available in supermarkets. This is the spaghetti squash.

It is quite easy to grow spaghetti squash in a home environment, as it can be grown both in a planter and in the garden. This squash should be  planted in the spring and harvested in the fall.

Spaghetti squash is often eaten in its baked form. It is sometimes served after it has been heated in the microwave, boiled in water, or cooked by steaming.

The seeds of the spaghetti pumpkin are also edible after roasting.

To make a delicious spaghetti squash easily, just cut it in half, drain the seeds and cook it in the microwave for 10-15 minutes until its contents are soft and separate from the peel.

Mix the contents of the cooked squash with olive oil, fresh thyme, and oregano, and serve on cooked pasta with lots and lots of parmesan, as a side dish or even on fresh sourdough bread.

The fall season is fast approaching, with the second to last season of the year coming up on September 22nd. Beer lovers are starting the transition from light, fruity, and hoppy summer beers to some of the autumn favorites that are enjoyed around the world. Whether you’re a beer lover or a newbie in the world of suds, get prepared with this selection of fall beer styles that you need to add to your shopping list.

Marzen

Germany’s Oktoberfest is the biggest beer celebration in the world, and this fall classic revolves around one thing: Marzen beer. This German favorite is now made around the world and stands out for its clean, smooth, malty character which is perfect for cool weather sipping.

One of my all time favourites. @schlenkerla1405 blew me away when I was younger, the first that shattered my preconceptions of what beer could and should be. Layers upon layers of flavour, a shopping list full of unique and interesting flavours yet with such an easy, casual drinkability. It pours an aesthetically pleasing ruby/mahogany hue with a tan coloured head. The smoked bacon/sausage aspect of the beer can sometimes be overplayed and pigeonhole this beer, but it's far from a one trick piggy. Yes, there's a butchery's worth of smoky bacon on the nose and in the initial taste but it settles down and begins to be matched by other flavours. Caramel, tobacco, the tingle of herbs from the German noble hops, honey on burnt toast, charred wood. The beer has a lovely medium body, not too heavy considering the rich abundance of flavour at play. Just a wonderful beer, and a great starting point to their range. It's a beer for the romantics, a result of centuries of time honoured tradition. The benchmark Marzen. It's a Masterpiece. β€’ β€’ β€’ β€’ β€’ β€’ β€’ β€’ β€’ β€’ β€’ β€’ β€’ β€’ β€’ β€’ β€’ β€’ β€’ #craftbeer #craftbeerpics #craftbeergeek #craftbeerporn #craftbeerhour #craftbeerlife #craftnotcrap #beer #beerpics #beerporn #beerlover #ale #drinklocal #supportlocal #marzen #bamburg #smokedbeer #schlenkerla #bavaria #beergasm #beerstagram #brewtography #beerme #beergram #beertography #instabeer #beerblogger #tom_tappd

Porter

Stouts are generally considered winter favorites, but its lighter cousin, the porter, is perfect for the fall. Containing generally between 4.5 and 6% alcohol and featuring a medium body with toasted malty notes, often in combination with chocolate and coffee tones, this is the perfect autumn dark beer.

Pumpkin Ale

Pumpkin everything is in style during the fall nowadays, and beer is no exception to the rule. Pumpkin ales are now commonly produced by breweries throughout the world, showcasing the unique flavor of this gourd, which is usually combined with cloves.

This led to explosively good flavor combinations that characterize the UNESCO recognized and globally beloved Belgian brewing tradition even up to today! ⁣🍻 ⁣ Because of its β€œanything goes” heritage I’ve always thought that a farmhouse ale might be the best expression of a pumpkin ale πŸŽƒ , even though brown and pale ale bases are used more often by our craft brewers. ⁣ ⁣ Well @hardywood and I must think alike! This is their Farmhouse Pumpkin Ale, an intoxicatingly (in more ways than one) delicious potion of pumpkin, nutmeg, clove, farmhouse funk and Belgian candi sugar. It’s brewed with all-local VA farm-to-brewery ingredients, too; and comes in at a solid 8.5 ABV. πŸ‘Š ⁣ If you go to Richmond Va, Hardywood is a MUST VISIT! You probably know all about their famous neighbors who churn out more slurpees than 7-11, but don’t pass on the classically delicious and creative lineup that Hardywood turns out everyday. And they REALLY up their game for holiday season!⁣ πŸ˜€ ⁣ #craftbeer #rva #supportlocal #drinklocal #farmhouseale #vacraftbeer #pumpkinale #craftnotcrap #craftbeerlife #craftbeerlover #beerlover #beerlovers #beergeek #beertime #beerme #craftbeergeek #beerporn #thursdayvibes #fall #craftbeerporn #beer #cerveza #instabeer #beerstagram #beertography #craftbrew #beernerd #beeroclock #craftbeerjunkie #pumpkin
