Spiced blood orange & thyme shrub syrup drinking vinegar homemade: with ginger, vanilla, cinnamon, star anise, nutmeg & pink pepper. Shrubs are a very ancient way of preserving seasonal flavours of fruits and vegetables with sugar and vinegar popular in Ancient Rome and related closely to the word sharab or sherbet. My modern shrub twist takes warm sweet spices to intensify the sweetness of blood orange & fresh thyme and preserves this with the tang of apple cider vinegar and a little coconut sugar and orange blossom honey for flavour.
