Oil and vinegar don’t mix — except in salad dressings. Vinegar will add some zing to your sauce, with balsamic, white wine, and apple cider vinegar all being interesting options. No vinegar? No problem! Grab some lemons, tomatoes, or a dash of Dijon mustard.
Adding something sweet will help to balance out the acidity. Honey is a common favorite, but you can play around with fruity flavors by using oranges, blueberries, and strawberries.
The final touch comes in the form of herbs. Chop up some basil, coriander, parsley, or dill to bring a bit of freshness to your dressing, or throw in dried thyme or oregano. Garlic and onion powder are also ones to keep in mind.

]]>Red wine vinaigrette is one of my favorite dressings to make at home. Here’s how to do it in a recipe that takes less than 10 minutes to prepare and yields about 8 ounces of dressing.
Start off by placing the olive oil and red wine vinegar in a container that can be closed, such as a Mason jar or a tupperware container.
Next, mince your garlic clove and add it to the olive oil and vinegar mixture. Next, you can go ahead and add the kosher salt, black pepper, and dried oregano to the dressing.
The next step is important: close the container and shake hard! You want to make all of the ingredients together and ensure the olive oil and vinegar emulsify, combining these two non-soluble ingredients.
Once you’ve shaken the container for a couple of minutes, refrigerate and serve within a week or so. Enjoy!

]]>If you only opt for lettuce, the salad will definitely get boring. That’s why you should feel free to experiment with leafy greens of different textures and tastes. Some of the most popular choices are iceberg, romaine, rocket, mignonette lettuce, spinach, arugula and more.
Skip the high-calorie dressings when you’re making your summer green salad. You definitely want to keep it light and healthy. Instead of opting for choices such as Caesar or blue cheese, try some delicious substitutes. Olive oil should always be on top of your list, followed by a low-calorie raspberry vinaigrette, and balsamic vinaigrette.
Once you’ve chopped your leafy greens, make sure that you keep them in the fridge. Don’t add any dressings or salt right away, instead wait until the meal.
The perfect summer green salad can also contain some fruits and vegetables of other colors. Beetroot, tomatoes, carrots are the perfect additions for a fresh, healthy taste. Just choose your favorite thing to add, and get playful with the ingredients each time you make one.

You can now make your favorite dressing at home, at least you’ll know exactly what you’re eating. All you need is 1/4 cup dijon mustard, 1/4 cup honey, 1/4 cup virgin oil. Add some salt and 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar. This is the best salad dressing you’ve ever tried. You can get creative with the ingredients and add more or less to your taste.
Possibly my favorite in the numerous healthy salad dressings out there. The Greeks have a super-delicious cuisine, known for the common use of oregano. For this recipe, you will need 1/4 cup virgin olive oil, 1 teaspoon dried oregano, 2 tablespoons red vinegar, some salt, and pepper to your taste.
If you love sweet and sour tastes, you will be obsessed with this one. Get 3 tablespoons of virgin olive oil, 3 tablespoons of balsamic vinegar, 1 teaspoon dijon mustard and 1 tablespoon raspberry jam. Mix them all together and add salt, garlic, and pepper to your taste.
