Poppy Cooks is a Michelin-trained chef and food content creator on TikTok who has deservingly earned the nickname “Potato Queen.” Cooks regularly updates her profile with recipes that will help you transform potatoes into delicious dishes.

Watching Cooks’ videos will make even the biggest potato lovers realize that they just scratched the surface of potato’s versatility in cooking. From roasted and jacked potatoes to chips and mashed potatoes, you’ll find any recipe you are looking for and many more you didn’t even know existed.

Most recently, Cooks decided to offer 24 recipe ideas for using potatoes as part of a holiday meal. However, they can be used for any purpose, gathering, or just when you want to enjoy some decadence.

One of the recipes sees Cooks making Christmas pudding baked potatoes. This simple but delicious dish includes cutting the top of the potato and stuffing it with a filling made of fried bacon, garlic and herb cheese, and mustard. Top that with bacon bits and sour cream, and you have yourself a mouthwatering combination.

@poppycooks

Day 12… Christmas pudding baked potatoes ? recipe below ? Ingredients 2 large Maris Piper potatoes, washed 4 slices of smoked streaky bacon 1 tsp dijon mustard (optional) 75g garlic and herb soft cheese 2 cloves garlic, grated 75g melted butter 1 tsp chopped chives (plus extra to garnish) 1 tbsp sour cream/creme fraiche Instructions Preheat the oven to 200ºc/400ºf. Rub the Maris pipers with oil and season well with salt, then pop on a tray and put into the oven for 60 minutes. Meanwhile, thinly slice the bacon and render out the fat in a pan, putting it in cold and allowing it to heat up gradually. Pour the bacon (reserve 1 tbsp) and the fat into a bowl and mix in the garlic and herb cheese. Throw in the dijon mustard. Cut the top of the potato with 3 slices into a star, then fill the slices with the cheese and bacon mixture. Mix the grated garlic with the melted butter, tsp chopped chives and season. Use this to pour all over the potato. Return to the oven for 15 minutes to get the cheese molten, then pour over the butter from the tray, sprinkle over the bacon bits, chives and the sour cream and serve. #24ChristmasPotatoes #christmasfood #christmas #potatotiktok #potatoes

  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • Ground black pepper

French fries are typically the most common fried potato side dish, but one of my favorite ways to fry up a potato is totally different.

I love cutting potatoes into small, thin pieces, seasoning them with a spice and herb blend—which is heavy on the rosemary—and frying them in olive oil. Want to learn how to make this dish yourself? Let’s go for it!

Ingredients

  • 2 large Russet potatoes
  • 1 ½ tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons sea salt
  • 1 ½ teaspoons rosemary
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon parsley

Instructions

Begin preparing the recipe by slicing the Russet potatoes you have into small slices that are about ½ an inch thick. Set aside in a bowl.

Next, heat the olive oil in a large skillet on medium to medium-high heat until the oil begins to “shimmer.” As the oil is heating up, add the sea salt, rosemary, black pepper, and parsley to the bowl with the potato slices along with a dash of olive oil. Mix with a fork or your hands to ensure that they are all seasoned.

When the oil is hot, add the potatoes to the liquid. Fry them for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until they acquire a crispy and golden brown exterior.

Once the potatoes have been cooked on each side, allow them to drain on a bed of paper towels. Once they have drained and cooled enough to eat, enjoy!

People really underestimate the complexity of a baked potato, because a lot of people haven’t had really good ones. A baked potato should have skin crispy like a potato chip and an interior creamy like mashed potatoes. When you’re through baking these potatoes, you won’t even want to add butter or sour cream to them, they’re that good.

Ingredients:

  • 2 1/2 pounds of russet or Idaho potatoes
  • Olive oil
  • Flaked sea salt to taste
  • Ground black pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 F and start scrubbing your potatoes very well with a potato scrubber or by hand.
  2. Using a fork or anything with many spikes, prick holes all over the potato so the steam can escape as you cook it.
  3. Then, dry them off slightly if necessary, and rub olive oil over the potatoes so the skin glistens.
  4. Generously season with salt and pepper to your taste, and then put them right on the oven rack without wrapping them in tin foil. You can put a sheet pan or a sheet of tin foil on the rack below to catch drippings if you’re worried.
  5. Bake for 60-75 minutes or longer until the skin is super crispy and the inside looks really creamy.
  6. Allow it to cool slightly and enjoy!
